The City Council received copies of the 2004 preliminary budget on July 1, 2003 with a cover memo from
Finance Director Jeff May. The purpose of this item is to allow staff to explain the specific details of the
preliminary budget and to engage the Council in a discussion of programming priorities that are consistent with
the adopted goals of the City Council, and how best to match those goals to the resources available.
Council members are encouraged to submit any questions or continents related to the budget to Finance Director
May or the City Administrator in advance of Wednesday's meeting. Anything we can do to be better prepared
for questions or to be able to address issues will benefit the entire group and better discussion.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Give staff direction related to the 2004 preliminary budget.
