EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION
The Police Department, as part of the monitonng of businesses licensed to sell alcohol within the City of
Rosemount, annually conducts compliant checks These compliant checks utilize a cooperating person under
the age of twenty -one attempting to purchase alcohol at each of the licensed establishments There are costs
involved in conducting these checks
The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Division of Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement operates a grant
program to assist municipalities with the costs of conducting these compliance checks For each compliance
check conducted at a business, the grant will reimburse agencies $30 There are no matching funds required of
cities
Authorization is requested from Council to submit an application to conduct compliance checks at each of the
businesses licensed for the sale of alcohol including 3 2% malt liquor If a grant is awarded to the City,
Council will be asked to authorize acceptance of the grant, also
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE SUBMITTAL OF AN UNDERAGE
COMPLIANCE CHECK GRANT APPLICATION TO THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
SAFETY DIVISION OF ALOCHOL AND GAMBLING ENFORCEMENT
