The Council is asked to appoint Krista Blair Erickson to the position of police officer. This is an additional
police officer position that Council approved in the 2001 budget. The appointment of Ms. Erickson is
contingent upon her being certified for licensure by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standards and
Training and passing the required medical and psychological evaluations. Ms. Erickson earned a Bachelor of
Science degree at Winona State University and is well qualified for this position. If appointed by Council, it is
expected that Ms. Erickson's start date will be July 16, 2001.
Approximately fifty applications were received for this position. Eight candidates were interviewed for the
position, including Ms. Erickson.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE APPOINTMENT OF KRISTA BLAIR
ERICKSON TO THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER, CONTINGENT ON SUCCESSFUL
COMPLETION OF MEDICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS AND LICENSURE BY THE
MINNESOTAP.O.S.T. BOARD.
