In January of this year the council approved bids for the bandshell structure, installation, excavation and
concrete stage. As part of the design plan for the stage, prepared by Sebesta Blomberg, field verifications
were to be conducted by a geo- technical engineering company. Any changes in the necessary excavation
would then be negotiated between the City and the contractor
After having Braun Intertec inspect the site on two separate occasions, they recommended we remove
unsuitable soils and replace with clean (non - organic) granular fill (see attached daily observation report).
Attached is the change order for $24,344.00 that has been submitted by the Contractor, Nadeau Utility, Inc.
Bob Kilgore of Sebesta Blomberg and I have both reviewed the change order and recommend Council
approval. The funding for the original bid price of the bandshell is coming from the Parks Improvement
Fund. This would also be the funding used for the change order. The Parks Improvement Fund currently has
a fund balance of over $500,000.00.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the change order for soil corrections on the bandshell
project at Central Park.
