With recent developments (Bloomfield & Evermoor) boulevard trees have been approved as part
of the subdivision process which is in conflict with past practice. The current practice for
boulevard tree replacements is the City will supply a tree that must be replanted outside of the
right of way.
The reason the City has not allowed boulevard trees in the past is maintenance and the
responsibility of replacement. The recent decisions to accept boulevard trees have been for
aesthetic reasons.
Staff seeks the direction of Council to eliminate this conflict and to establish a policy for
boulevard plantings.
