Council Member Cisewski asked the Parks and Recreation Commission to discuss this issue at their July meeting.
The Parks and Recreation Commission has questioned the issue of who is responsible for reviewing development
plans for the placement of sidewalks.
At this time, the City does not have a written policy on where sidewalks are to be installed. The Parks and
Planning Commissions have the opportunity to review and make recommendations on sidewalks in a
development plan. The Parks and Recreation Commission typically review plans to ensure that safe access is
provided to park sites or trail connections. If the Commission is concerned about access, they could
recommend more sidewalks or additional parkland to be dedicated. The Parks and Recreation Commission
recommended that the City create a consistent process for reviewing sidewalk plans.
