The item is on the agenda for Council to consider ordering the preparation of a Feasibility Report for the
Hawkins Pond Lift Station and Forcemain Improvements, City Project #328. The Hawkins Pond area
experienced flooding during the July, 2000 rainfall. Staff recently reviewed drainage issues that resulted
from the storm with the Utility Commission and it was decided that construction of this lift station was
an immediate concern. The Commission recommended moving up the schedule for completion from
2003 to 2001.
An associated project that will be included with this project is the Wensmann Pond bank stabilization.
The Hawkins Pond and Birger Pond outlets will discharge into Wensmann Pond. Upon initiation of
Birger Pond pumping operations last year, the banks of Wensmann Pond started to exhibit some erosion.
Further, several fences and trees are located within the pond easement and should be relocated. We plan
to meet with the neighborhood to discuss options to resolve these issues and then incorporate the
recommendations into the Hawkins Pond construction plan.
The funding for the project will come from the Storm Water Core Fund. This project was originally
intended to be constructed in 2003, but due to significant potential flooding issues was recommended to
be moved into the 2001 CIP.
The completion of the Feasibility Report will include separate neighborhood meetings with both
Hawkins Pond and Wensmann neighborhoods.
Staff recommends adopting the attached resolution to direct Staff to begin work on the Hawkins Pond
Lift Station and Forcemain Improvements.

A RESOLUTION ORDERING A FEASIBILITY REPORT FOR
THE HAWKINS POND LIFT STATION & FORCEMAIN
CITY PROJECT #328
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount deems it necessary to investigate the
feasibility of the Hawkins Pond Lift Station and forcemain improvements, City Project #328.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Staff is directed to have the necessary
feasibility report prepared for the Hawkins Pond Lift Station and forcemain improvements, City
Project #328.
ADOPTED this 16th day of January, 2001, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
