O, ATTACHMENTS: PROCLAMATION I APPROVE BY: I '' . ��2 11 --r The week of October 7 -14, 2001 is designated as Cities Week in Minnesota with the focus being the League of Minnesota Cities' "Building Quality Communities" initiative. Due to the City Hall remodeling this year, an "open house" will not be held. However we would like to show our support to the program by declaring the week of October 7 to 14, 2001, Minnesota Cities Week. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION to declare the week of October 7 to 14', 2001 as Minnesota Cities Week with the attached proclamation. COUNCIL ACTION: i PROCLAMATION Declaring October 7 -14, 2001 "Cities Week" WHEREAS, Minnesota Cities take great pride in the partnership that exists between city government and citizens; and WHEREAS, Over the years our communities have prospered through a deeply held commitment to grassroots democracy that has repeatedly shown what citizens, working with their government, can accomplish; and WHEREAS, the spirit of this partnership thrives in hundreds of cities throughout Minnesota where ingenuity, creativity, and old- fashioned hard work are - put to use every day to make our cities better places to live, learn, work, and play; and WHEREAS, the successful accomplishments achieved through this partnership inspire us to look with confidence to a bright future that we can shape through our dreams and determination; and WHEREAS, Cities Week 2001 "Building Quality Communities" offers a special time to recognize and strengthen the bond between citizens and city government; THEREFORE, the City Council and Mayor of the City of Rosemount do hereby proclaim the week of October 7 -14, 2001, to be: Minnesota Cities Week Mayor Date
