Community Development Director 6.e. ATTACHMENTS: Resolution APPROVED-BY: Background Associated Wood Products (AWP) is moving forward with construction of its 74,000 - square -foot building in the Rosemount Business Park. The total cost of fixed assets for the project will approach $5 million. The building will be completed by October. AWP has requested that the City of Rosemount serve as the sponsor for a loan from a state program for a small portion of building cost. AWP would like to borrow S 160,000 to install air conditioning throughout the building, and has identified the Minnesota Investment Fund as a source of funds for that cost. The Minnesota Investment Fund is run by the Department of Trade & Economic Development as a source of low- interest loans for manufacturers looking to expand and create jobs in the state. The program requires a public hearing by the city council of the affected city as part of an application for a loan. As part of the City's consideration of this request, staff recommends that the City Council set a public hearing on for May 15, 2001, on Associated Wood Products' request for City sponsorship of a loan from the Minnesota Investment Fund.
