The Council is asked to approve the appointment of Jeremiah Simonson to the position of police officer. This
appointment is to fill the additional position authorized by Council in the 2001 budgeting process. Mr.
Simonson has a B.S. degree from Metropolitan State University. He has worked for the last two months as a
Community Service Officer for the city, while also working in the electronics department of a major retail store.
He grew up in the City of Eagan, where he still resides. Mr. Simonson competed for the position against
seventy -five other candidates.
This appointment is contingent on Mr. Simonson successfully completing the required medical and
psychological testing. If appointed, it is anticipated that his start date will be November 26, 2001.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to appoint Jeremiah Simonson to the position of police officer for the
City of Rosemount.
