The Council is asked to approve two (2) traffic control items regarding Shannon Parkway north of Connemara
Trail. This is the area that has residences with driveway access directly onto Shannon Parkway in an urban
residential area and is also the frontage area of Shannon Park Elementary.
Council is asked to approve the installation of School Zone signs on the northern and southern borders of
Shannon Park Elementary. These signs should be another means to alert motorists to the presence of increased
pedestrian and motorists in the area due to the school.
Council is asked to approve changing the speed limit on Shannon Parkway from 35 MPH to 30 MPH from
Connemara Trail to approximately 300 feet north of Evermoor Parkway. The 30 MPH speed limit is
recommended because of increased vehicle and pedestrian traffic in the area.
These items were both discussed at the Council Work Session and consensus by Council was to approve both
the recommendations.
