Negotiations for the 2002 through 2003 labor agreement for the AFSCME Local 3857 have beeri completed.
The union and the city have reached tentative agreements on the following items:
1. 3.75% wage increase for 2002 and 2003 with adjustments made to some positions to reflect market pay of
other Stanton VI Cities.
2. Pro -rated holidays for part-time Receptionist and Secretary positions, provided the employee is normally
scheduled to work the day of the holiday.
3. Revision of work schedule clause. Adds a clause which allows for employer and employee to mutually
agree to modify work schedule where employee would not be receive overtime pay for hours worked over
eight in one day; however, hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a week will continue to be compensated at
one and one -half times the employee's regular rate of pay.
Please note the Uniform Settlement Form that is generally provided when contracts are renewed is not attached.
The Minnesota Legislature removed the completion of this form as a requirement as of July 1, 2001. After
establishing the reporting process, the Department of Finance had received few requests for information. Based
on comments from the executive and legislative branch, this data did not appear to be useful for decision -
making and the mandate could be eliminated.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE LABOR AGREEMENT FOR THE
AFSCME BARGAINING UNIT FOR THE YEARS 2002 & 2003 AND TO AUTHORIZE THE
NECESSARY SIGNATURES.
