Staff is requesting authorization to begin recruiting for the position of Civil Engineer. The position has been
vacant since Doug Litterer left the position in November 1999. We have not proceeded with filling the position
because we wanted the Public Works Director to be able to fill the position with a candidate of their own
selection. However, with the pending resignation of Alyson Morris, the lack of personnel in the department has
become exasperated. Also, Interim Public Works Director Weiss believes that the current economy makes this
a good time to undertake a recruitment process and that the person that we would seek would be someone who
would be able to work with whomever the future Public Works Director may be.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: AUTHORIZE STAFF TO BEGIN THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS FOR
THE POSITION OF CIVIL ENGINEER.
