This is a recommendation to appoint Scott Aker to the position of Fire Chief for another three years. His
current term expired this month, and according to Fire Department policy, the chief is to be selected from
applicants meeting the minimum qualifications for the position.
In this application process, Scott was the single applicant. He has been Fire Chief for thirteen years and a
member of the department since 1982. He is obviously well qualified to continue in the position and it is
thereby my recommendation that his assignment to the position of Fire Chief be confirmed by the Council.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE ASSIGNMENT OF SCOTT AKER AS
FIRE CHIEF FOR A PERIOD OF THREE YEARS.
