This is a recommendation to appoint Randolph Kenneth Trefethren to the position of police o facer. His
appointment would fill the position that was vacated with Todd Winters' departure. The appointment of Mr.
Trefethren is contingent upon him passing the required medical and psychological evaluations. Mr. Trefethren
has an AA degree in Law Enforcement and has been a Police Reserve officer with the City for approximately
10 years. He is also eligible to be licensed by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officers Standards and Training.
If appointed by the Council, it is anticipated that Mr. Trefethren would begin employment August 6, 2001.
Approximately fifty applications were received for this position. Eight candidates were interview, including
Mr. Trefetheren.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE APPOINTMENT OF RANDOLPH
KENNETH TREFETHREN TO THE POSITION OF POLICE OFFICER, CONTINGENT ON
SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF MEDICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS.
