Community Development Director' `, 6 ATTACHMENTS: Resolution APPROVED BY: Background The Metropolitan Council seeks the continued participation in 2002 of the City of Rosemount in the Local Housing Incentives Account Program under the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act. Participation in this program gives the City access to over $15 million for housing development, clean -up of polluted sites, and mixed - use /mixed - income development. For the City to participate next year, the Metro Council requires the City to spend a certain amount on "affordable and life -cycle housing opportunities." This required amount is known as ALHOA, and for Rosemount for 2002 the amount is $39,406.33. As in prior years, the City's support of the Dakota County Community Development Agency will meet this requirement. The City submitted an application for $15,000 as an opportunity grant from the Livable Communities Demonstration Account. The funds would help pay for the downtown redevelopment plan that the Port Authority is undertaking. The Metro Council will award the opportunity grants in October.
