DATE: April 9, 2001
TO: Rosemount City Council
Thomas Burt, City Administrator
FROM: Dan Schultz, Parks and Recreation Director
SUBJECT: Concessions and Storage Building at Shannon Park
Staff has had numerous discussions with representatives from RAAA regarding the possibility of
constructing a concessions and storage building at Shannon Park. The idea was brought to the staff
from representatives of the RAAA Traveling Baseball program. The Traveling Baseball
representatives are soliciting funds from local businesses and service groups to assist with the
construction costs of the building. They are hoping to raise enough money to build the structure
without using City funds.
RAAA Traveling Baseball would use the proposed building for storage and all RAAA programs
including Dakota REV would share the concession stand. They would like to have the facility
available for their use this spring, if possible. The Traveling Baseball program representatives have
indicated they would be putting forth the most money toward the cost of the building, and would
have sole rights to the storage area.
A service group has requested that RAAA must have the support of the City of Rosemount before
they would be able move forward with a donation
The Parks and Recreation Committee discussed this item and felt that such a facility is in order with
the park plan for Shannon Park. They also recommended the council consider writing a letter
supporting RAAA's fund raising efforts.
