Park Improvement Fund Balance as of January 31, 2017: $385,592.13 Inflows to the Paxk Improvement Fund last month wexe as follows: Dedication fees—$0 Grants/Othex- $0 Interest- $0 Donations -$0 E�cpendituxes - $178.00 (Ailesbury Paxk Professional Services) Natural Resources Management Plan—Carroll's Woods - Sta,ff recendy sent a Request for Pxoposal to the thxee engineering firms in our City pool for that provide services in the specialty area of Natuxal/Watex Resources. All three firms submitted a proposal and price quotes for creating a NatuYal Resou.rce Management Plan for Carrolls's Woods that is requited when xequesting state grant funding. All three firms are qualified and have experience with writing management plans. The pricing that we xeceived ranged fxom$16,635 to $27,716. Sta.ff has recommended to the City Administratox that we use the lowest priced quote. Great River Greening—Staff xecendy met with a repxesentative fxom Gxeat River Greening to discussing partnering on grant writing opportunities fox Carxoll's Woods xestoxation. Great River GYeen has a tremendous amount of experience with restoration projects and securing grant dolla,xs for the work. Warming Houses -Warxning houses closed for the season on Thursday, February 16 which is a few days from out goal of staying open through Presidents'Day. Due to the recent buYst of warm weatheY the rink conditions were not suita.ble for skating. Recycling of Holiday Lights - For each of the last few yeaxs, the Rosemount Comxnunity Center has served as a drop-off location for holiday light recycling. The light strings are dropped off for any number of reasons: they no longex work, the ownex no longex wants to decorate ox the owner is upgxading to LED lights.This yeax's pxogram, conducted by ProAct in Eagan,ran from the middle of November to the end of January.ProAct, Inc. is an organization dedicated to serving people with disabilities and other challenges with a wide range of individual services that enhance employment skills and self-sufficiency capabilities. PxoAct clients collect, sort and xecycle light strands by woxking with Minnesota xecycling companies. During this yeax's program, 122 strings of lights were collected at the Community Centex, almost twice the numbex of light strings collected la.st year. Sharing of Recycling Success - For many yeaxs, City staff and the Leprechaun Days Committee have been developing and improving their recycling and oxganic collection programs at the annual summer celebration. On Wednesday, February 8,Tom Schuster,Parks Supervisor and Jennifer Kedward,Dakota County Department of Environmental Management staff, made a presentation about paxks recycling and recycling at events to the Southern Minnesota.Recreation and Paxks Association (SMRPA}. This is the thixd time in the last few months that Tom has been asked to make a presentation about event recycling using Leprechaun Days as the model. Daddy/Daughter Dance -The Paxks and Recreation Department Yecently assisted with hosting the annual SORR Daddy/Daughtex Dance. Due to the populaxity of this event we offered two dances (one Friday night and one Saturday morning) and had just over 200 couples participate (416 people). The events were held that the Apple Valley Senior Center.
