H�UMAN RESOURCES COORDINATOR ATTACHMENTS: RESOLUTION REQUESTING APPROVED BY: DISSOLUTION OF'THE MPRS The Minnesota Police Recruitment System (MPRS) is a governmental agency created to develop a collecti�-e selection process for law enforcement agencies in the state. The City has been a member of the agency since signing a joint powers agreement several years ago. MPRS suspended recruitment and testing activities in 1996 and is now requesting that participant cities pass resolutions requesting the dissolution of the System. Once resolutions have been received from two-thirds of the member cities, MPRS will be officially dissolved. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ACCEPT THE RESOLUTION DISSOLVING THE MINNESOTA POLICE RECRUITMENT SYSTEM. COUNCIL ACTION: CITY OF � COUNTY OF STATE OF MINNESOTA RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION REQUESTING DISSOLUTION OF THE MINNESOTA POLICE RECRUITMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, the City is a member of a joint powers organization known as the Minnesota Police Recruitment System (MPRS) created by a joint powers agreement (the "Agreement") pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 471.59; and WHEREAS, the MPRS no longer serves the purpose for which it was formed, and the MPRS Executive Committee has recommended to MPRS members that the organization be dissolved; and WHEREAS, Section XIV of the Agreement provides that the MPRS shall be dissolved when its Secretary-Treasurer has received certified copies of resolutions adopted by the governing bodies of two-thirds of its members requesting such dissolution; and WI�REAS, the City Council has determined that dissolution of the MPRS is in the best interests of the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of that the City hereby requests dissolution of the Mmnesota Police Recruitment System(1VIPRS) in accordance with the Agreement and that the City Clerk hereby is authorized and directed to transmit forthwith a certified copy of this resolution to the MPRS Secretary-Treasurer in care of Daniel Donahue, City Manager, City of New Hope, Minnesota.
