The Police Department recently applied for a grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety - Alcohol
and Gambling Enforcement Division to conduct compliance checks at the licensed liquor establishments. This
grant is for $750 and does not have any matching requirement on behalf of the City. It is expected that the grant
will cover all costs associated with completing a compliance check at each of the licensed businesses.
The Council is asked to approve the attached resolution, which authorizes Police Chief Gary Kalstabakken to
execute and sign the required contracts to accept the grant.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the attached resolution authorizing execution and signing
of an Alcohol Compliance Check grant from the Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division of the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR AN
ALCOHOL COMPLIANCE CHECK GRANT WITH THE MINNESOTA
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY - ALCOHOL AND GAMBLING
ENFORCEMENT DIVISION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Rosemount licenses liquor establishments that
operate within the city, and
WHEREAS, the licensed establishments, as a condition of their license and to comply with
Minnesota state law, shall not serve or sell alcoholic beverages to underage persons, and
WHEREAS, compliance checks are an effective method to ensure that the licensed
establishments are abiding by the conditions of their license, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota enter into an
Agreement with the Division of Alcohol and Gambling Enforcement Division of the Minnesota
Department of Public Safety to conduct compliance checks at the licensed liquor establishments
within the City of Rosemount.
Gary D. Kalstabakken, Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute and sign such grant
Agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City
Council of the City of Rosemount.
ADOPTED this 19th day of December 2000, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
