At the first of the year City office hours were changed to 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Previously, City
Council directed staff to look into extending hours to 6:00 p.m. The initial idea was to be open
for extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays for building permits, motor vehicle licensing and
Park and Recreation office hours. I recommend we begin with extended hours on Tuesdays only
and evaluate the cost effectiveness of the extended hours after one year.
No formal action is needed by the City Council to change the hours; these changes will go into
effect at the times indicated unless directed otherwise by the Council. This change is planned to
begin April 3, 2000. A press release will be placed in the three local papers and the City
newsletter.
