Kalstabakken, Chief of P AGENDA NO:� ATTACHMENTS: Resolution Authorizing Execution of Agreement APPROVED B : - v The Police Department applied for and been awarded a Safe & Sober grant through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Safe & Sober is an enforcement and educational effort to reduce impaired driving, increase safety belt and child safety seat usage and reduce aggressive driving behavior. In order to meat the goals of the program, the grant provides funds to pay overtime for officers to perform increased traffic enforcement during set periods over the next twelve months. Each enforcement period will also include an educational component through press releases and some presentations in the community. In order to accept the grant, Council is requested to pass a resolution authorizing Chief of Police Gary Kalstabakken to sign and implement the grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR A SAFE & SOBER GRANT. COUNCIL ACTION: CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 2000- - A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT ENTITLED SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES BE IT RESOLVED, that the Rosemount Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the project entitled Safe & Sober Communities during the period from October 1, 2000 through September 30, 2001. Gary Kalstabakken, Chief of the Rosemount Police Department, is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Rosemount Police Department. ADOPTED the 17'h day of October, 2000 by the City Council of the City of Rosemount.
