The Police Department recruited for volunteer reserve officers earlier this year and five persons were selected to
join the reserve program. They began their orientation and training in late July and are at tonight's Council
meeting to take their oath of office.
Since joining the Department, the five new personnel have volunteered over 265 hours. This has included
working at the Leprechaun Days' parade, dances and other events, Rosemount High School football games,
Public Safety in the Park events, and riding with police officers to learn about the community and the operation
of the Department. The new group of officers has already demonstrated a commitment to the community and
the Department by willingly assisting at several events and donating many hours.
The five new reserves join four reserve officers that have been in the program for several years each. The
senior reserves have also contributed 197 hours of time so far this year. This group will allow the Police
Department to be more visible at community events and will assist the police officers in providing a safe and
pleasant community in which to live.
