Mayor Busho and I attended a meeting with representatives from Eagan and Inver Grove Heights
to discuss 120"' Street. Eagan has developed to our northern boundary and before the remaining
land in Eagan can be developed they would like to address the construction of 120`" Street. Inver
Grove Heights shares interest in this road as a possible access to future parkland.
This area is guided Rural Residential and it would be very difficult to pay for our portion of the
road without development to pay for it. The attached design shows the road shifting more into
Rosemount and our cost would be substantial. If the improvements were made to 120` the offset
intersections at Hwy. 3 would need to be corrected, and it is likely that the State would assist in a
portion of the cost of the improvements.
The City Council needs to review the priority and importance of this roadway. If the road is
improved, pressure will be felt to develop this area as urban, and the only way to pay for the
improvements would be to allow this area to develop as urban.
