The recruitment process for Public Works Director/ City Engineer is currently underway. Applications are
due by August 25, 2000. Staff is proposing the following process for interviewing and screening of
candidates and would like input as to when and how Council will be involved.
The following process is being proposed:
Week of August 28 - Screening and Candidates Contacted
• Applications will be screened
• Initial contact with candidates will be made
• Interviews will be arranged
Week of September 4 & Week of September 11 - Interviews
• Staff interview – focus on technical aspects of the position (Brett, Tom, Paula, Other ?)
• Lunch
• Tour of the City
• Candidate Interview with the City Council
• Cooperative evaluation of candidates between the two interview panels
Week of September 18
• Background checks
• Offer extended
If possible, staff would like to set aside some dates for interviews with the City Council so to keep the
process moving along and keep the maximum number of individuals in the candidate pool.
