Julie Lenertz, owner of Brockway, Inc. has applied for an on-sale wine license for Brockway Golf Club, 13500
South Robert Trail. Ms. Lenertz currently holds an on-sale 3.2%beer license. She has applied for the wine
license with the intention of selling strong beer. State Statutes and the City Code allow a holder of an on-sale
wine license and an on-sale 3.2%beer license and whose gross receipts are at least 60% attributable to the sale
of food to sell intoxicating malt liquor(strong beer)without an additional license. State Statutes also requires
the holder of an on-sale wine license to provide seating for at least 25 guests at one time. Ms. Lenertz ad��ised
she meets this requirements and provided the attached floor plan and various pictures of the interior of the
clubhouse. The applicant has also submitted 1998 (4 months) and 1999 (1 month) food and beer revenue sales
that supports the 60% food sales requirement. If the City Council approves the wine license, it will be fonvard
to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety for their approval.
As you know,the City Code currently allows six on-sale intoxicating liquor licenses to be issued. Since this is a
wine license, it would not affect this apportionment number. Staff recommends approval of the license
application.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE THE ISSUANCE OF AN ON-SALE WINE
LICENSE TO BROCKWAY, INC. DOING BUSINESS AS BROCKWAY GOLF CLUB, 13500 SOUTH
ROBERT TRAIL.
