ATTACHMENTS: RESOLUTION AUTHORI EXECUTION OF APPROVED BY: AGREEMENT The Rosemount Police Department has applied for our fifth"Safe & Sober" grant through the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. The grant, which is endorsed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the National Sheriffs Association, seeks to unite law enforcement agencies' efforts in reducing impaired driving crashes and increasing safety belt and child safety seat use with enhanced enforcement efforts and public information and education activities. In order to accomplish this the grant provides funds to pay overtime for officers and support staff for enhanced enforcement efforts. The Rosemount Police Department is seeking a"Safe & Sober" grant for 2000 and requesting a council resolution allowing the Chief of Police, Gary Kalstabakken, to sign and implement a"Safe& Sober"grant with the Department of Public Safety. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT. COUNCIL ACTION: CITY OF ROSEMOUNT - DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 1999- A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT ENTITLE SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES BE IT RESOLVED that the Rosemount Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from October 1, 1999 through September 30, 2000. Gary Kalstabakken, Chief of the Rosemount Police Department, is hereby authorized to execute such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Rosemount Police Department.
