The University of Minnesota and WCCO Radio 8.3.0 Hometown Day salute a Rosemount resident, Megan
Johnson, on Sunday October 17, 1999 at 1 p.m. during the halftime of the Minnesota vs. Illinois State soccer
match. This is to honor Minnesota's finest student-athletes.
The attached proclamation will be brought to that event to support Megan Johnson and congratulate her. As
Mayor of Rosemount I highly recommend a motion to approve this proclamation.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION to approve a Proclamation declaring October 17, 1999 as Official
Megan Johnson Rosemount Hometown Day in the City of Rosemount.

Dear Mayor Busho,
I am writing to you regarding the University of Minnesota Women's Intercollegiate
Afihletic Department and WCCO Radio 8.3.0 Hometown Day salute of student-athlete
Megan Johnson. We will be honoring Megan and the city of Rosemount on Sunday
October 17,1999 at 1 p.m. during the halftime of the Minnesota vs. Illinois State soccer
match. We would like to invite you and other representatives from the city to be a part of
this special day for Megan. At this celebration,we would like to ask if the mayor or a
representative of the city could present a proclamation to Megan for MEGAN
jOHNSON'S HOMETOWN DAY. A Sample prodamation is enclosed for your reference.
This celebration is one of ten HOMETOWN DAYS,a promotion designed to salute some
of Minnesota's finest student-athletes. During its inaugural season in 1989-90,Hometown
Days honored 15 student-athletes from 13 Minnesota hometowns.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount, Minnesota is actively conceYned and
involved in nurturing and supporting the educational and physical development
and achievements of its natives and residents, and
WHEREAS, the achievements academically and athletically of our native
citizen Megan Johnson are a source of great community pride and interest as she
represents our hometown in the nation and at the University of Minnesota as an
accomplished athlete and student, and
WHEREAS, she will be especially honored during ceremonies at the University
of Minnesota; and "Hometown Days"celebration of her achievements is
representative of the recognition our City supports.
THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Rosemount is very proud of the
student althlete Megan Johnson, and
NOW THEREFORE, as Mayor of the City of Rosemount, I hereby do
proclaim October 17, 1999 to be the official
