Staff has been working on two commercial enhancement projects that could be under contract by the end of
this year. In fact, they need to be under contract within this short time frame due to a new legislative law that
was just passed restricting the use of tax increment funds on commercial enhancements outside the TIF
District.
The first project includes additional decorative lighting along 145th Street from Burma Avenue to the railroad
tracks as well as within the newly developed Central Park area. NSP has provided a contract to install 18
decorative lights plus 2 rectilinear lights at a cost of$83,160 (145th St.@ $33,895 + Central Park @ $49,265).
This project, as well as the second project(Park&Ride lot)will be reviewed by the Port Authority on
September 7, also. The funding for the lighting project comes from the city's downtown redevelopment TIF
account, which has a current cash balance of nearly$160,000 with additional expected revenues by the end of
this year of approximately$200,000. Another$300,000 of revenue is forecasted for the final year of 2000.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION to Approve a Contract with NSP to Install Decorative Lights
along 145th Street and within Central Park at a Cost of$83,160 to be Paid from the TIF Redevelopment
District Account.
