The Minnesota Department of Transportation has requested that the City pass the
attached resolution which approves the preliminary layout of the realignment of State
Trunk Highway 3 between 160th Street and the railroad trestle. The attached drawing
shows the location of this realignment. A better drawing will be presented at the City
Council meeting. This realignment is part of the County Road 46 improvements. The
realignment was necessary to allow spacing between the intersection of Trunk Highway
3 and County Road 46 and the railroad crossing. The State will also be constructing the
roadway as shown on the attached map as the "connecting road north" which will
connect to a portion of the existing Highway 3 near Murgics. This street will become
City responsibility in the future. Many details have to be worked out on this project and
will be forthcoming in the next six to eight months.
Staff recommends the action be taken as described below.

A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PRELIMINARY LAYOUT
OF STATE TRUNK HIGHWAY NO. 3, STATE PROJECT NO. 1921-67
BETWEEN 160TH STREET WEST AND THE
UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD BRIDGE
WHEREAS, the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation has prepared a
preliminary layout for the improvement of a part of Trunk Highway Number 1 15
renumbered as Trunk Highway No. 3 within the corporate limits of the City of
Rosemount, from 380m north of 170th Street West to 50m northwest of the Union
Pacific Railroad Bridge; and seeks the approval thereof, and
WHEREAS, said preliminary layouts are on file in the Office of the Department of
Transportation, Saint Paul, Minnesota, being marked, labeled, and identified as S.P.
1921-67, Layout No. 1 A, realignment for controlled access.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that said preliminary layouts for the improvement of
said Trunk Highway within the corporate limits be and hereby are approved.
ADOPTED this 2nd day of November, 1999.
