As you are aware, Koch Refining Company has awarded the City of Rosemount $60,000
to construct a interpretative trail around the Erickson Park Pond immediately adjacent to
City Hall. The purpose of this item is to begin the process of constructing this trail by
ordering the preparation of the plans and specifications. This trail will provide a wonderful
amenity to the Erickson Park/Central Park area. The project will actually consist of a
bituminous trail around the pond as shown on the attached drawing with a series of
interpretative exhibits at points along the trail around the pond. The interpretative exhibits
will include an overview of geology, wetland history, wetland buffers, wetland plants,
storm water, wildlife, and water quality.
The proposed schedule for the project is tentatively set as follows:
Order Preparation of Plans & Specifications April 20, 1999
Receive Plans & Specifications/Order Advertisement for Bids May 18, 1999
Receive Bids June 8, 1999
Award Contract June 15, 1999
Substantially Complete Construction July 23, 1999
Staff recommends that the City Council pass the resolution as stated below.

A RESOLUTION ORDERING THE PREPARATION OF
PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE
KOCH MINNESOTA TRAIL
CITY PROJECT #311
WHEREAS, it is proposed to construct a bituminous trail and interpretative exhibits around
the storm water pond known as Erickson Pond which shall be referred to as the Koch
Minnesota Trail
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount,
Minnesota that the proposed improvements be referred to the City Engineer who is hereby
ordered to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of the Koch Minnesota
Trail, City Project #311.
ADOPTED this 20th day of April, 1999.
