Previously staff addressed this issue with the possibility of remodeling the front counter in the upper lobby.
After spending more time reviewing this, we have determined that for long term we would recommend hiring an
architect to look at all of our building needs for the purpose of providing time frames and cost estimates for
future expansion. However, short term we are in need of improving customer service by moving the appropriate
staff forward to better serve our customers. This would include providing new work areas for the front half of
the second floor. A few months ago staff toured various city halls and received input and suggestions on their
work environments. Staff also met with two companies that provide design and work stations. The purpose of
having this on the agenda is to see if the Council is interested in allowing staff to go forward with both the long
and short-term phases.
