I have decided to become involved, on a volunteer basis, with city government. My choice
to be involved at the committee level for the City of Rosemount is based on my belief that this
presents the best opportunity to improve the quality of life for my family and my neighbors.
My family and I have lived in Dakota County for the past 19 years, but we moved to
Rosemount within the last year. My family reached the stage(three teenagers)that I have more time
to volunteer. I also believe I now have the judgment, experience and education to serve effectively
in the government of the City of Rosemount. My experience in youth sports and recreation and in
my business background over the past several years gives me the background to help form a stronger
community based government in our City.
The challenges faced by the City of Rosemount as it grows over the next 20 years, are
considerable. I want to help provide new approaches to the problems the City will face. My
application as a volunteer is done without a specific agenda and I can be a valuable asset to either the
Parks & Recreation Committee or the Port Authority for the City of Rosemount. I welcome the
chance to answer any questions that you may have about me or my background, and I request that
. you appoint me to one of these volunteer committees.

Honorable Mayor/City Council
City of Rosemount
2875-145th Street West
Rosemount,Minnesota 54068
- RE:Application For Appointment For Utilities Commission
Dear Mayor/City Council:
I have had the pleasure of serving two-three year terms on the utilities commission and
would like to serve an additional term. As you may be aware I ha.ve been president of the
Utilities Commission for the past two years.
I have always looked at the utilities commission as being a group of professional people
who live m the community and represent the people as well as the needs of the city. In the
past six years, the City of Rosemount including the Public Utiliries Commission have
observed a lot of.challenges andhauges tagvut the community. The utilities
commission is still looking at changes in several areas. The sprinkler credit for new home
owners is one of the items that we are considering. I have worked closely with staff-on
several issues over my terms and feel the commitment by myself and others has been well i
worth the effort to continueo servteeople of Rosemount. I also feel my professional ',
eerience as a Principal Associate with a consulting engineering firm has been an asset m '
helping me make conscious decisions for the utilities commission. Smce I contmue to ' '
attend American Water Works Association(AWWA)meetings and trade shows. I can
share this information with city staff and the commission.
At this time I would like to formally ask the city council to consider me for the appointed
position of the utilities commissioner.
Sincerely,

. r
