It is critical we develop a process soon for hiring a police chief. Staff supports hiring a full time police chief as of
the first of the year and would like to begin the recruitment process.
We solicited proposals from four search firms to assist us in recruiting good candidates. Proposals were received
from Thompson Associates, David M. Griffith& Associates and The Brimeyer Group. The consulting firm of
PDI was contacted and said they would submit a proposal, but we have not received it as of this writing.
Consulting fees range from $11,500 to $13,500 plus expenses. We are confident that any of the three firms can
provide the needed service to assist us in the selection process.
At the previous Committee of the Whole meeting, it was indicated that the council has a desire to be more
involved in the process. We seek direction on where in the process the council would like to give input and how
the council would like to proceed with hiring a new police chief. � �
