RE: COUNTY ROAD 42 (CSAH421 CORRiDOR STUDY
As you are aware, Dakota County, along with MNDOT, Met Councii, Scott County
and the Cities of Prior Lake, Shakopee, Savage, Burnsviile, Appie Vailey and
Rosemount have met twice in regards to compteting a study for the CSAH 42 Corridor
fom Trunk Highway 55 in Rosemount all the way to Trunk Highway 41 in Shakopee.
Attached is a copy of the meeting agenda from Friday, Aprii 4, 1997 and a copy of
the preliminary draft of the request for proposals (or RFP) for the proposed study.
This study would be funded entirely by the Counties and MNDOT. Tom has asked
me to represent Rosemount in all meetings regarding this project
Also attached is a copy of a letter sent by the Mayors of Rosemount, Apple Valley
and Burnsville to Dakota County Commissioners requesting involvement of business
representatives in this study. At the meeting on April 4, 1997 it was decided by all
involved that there would be two committees that would be advising, reviewing
documents, and making recommendations to the consuitant and the project manager,
Lezlie Vermillion, of the Dakota County Highway Department. The Technical
Committee would be composed of Staff members from the various agencies involved.
A second committee called the Advisory Committee, would be composed of business
representatives and residents who live or work along the corridor.
Each City is to recommend up to five (5) people for this Advisory Committes. It was
discussed and agreed upon that the Advisory Committee members r2t hold political
office. The Committee would probably meet at most on a monthly basis as the
project progresses. The first meeting of the Committee would be on May 16, 1997
where the consultant would be introduced to all involved. As described in the RFP,
the goal is to have the study begin on June 1, 1997 and have a final report
completed by January 1998.
Our goal is to have the recommended Advisory Committee Members be appointed by I!
the Council at the April 15, 1997 City Council meeting so that the names can be ',
provided to the County ihe following week. If you have any questions regarding the '
Advisory Committee or anything else about this study, please contact me at 322-
2025 and I will hopefully be able to answer any questions you may have.
