City Council ' agreed at its February 20, 1997 meeting to be involved in this cooperative effort headed by Minnesota Police Recruitment System but formal action was never taken. Adoption of the attached resolution is recommended. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING PARTICIPATION IN COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES OF THE l��NNESOTA POLICE RECRUITMENT SYSTEM i � , . CITY OF ROSElVIOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 1997 - A RESOLUTI4N AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING PARTICIPATION IN COOPERATIVE ACTIVITIES OF THE MINNESOTA POLICE RECRUITMENT SYSTEM WHEREAS, the City of Rosemount is a defendant along with the Minnesota Police �, Recruitment System, a Minnesota joint powers organization ("MPRS"), and 35 other �'I Minnesota cities in two companion civil actions in Hennepin County District court entitled j Fields v. MPRS et al. and Starks v. MPRS. et al., District Court File Numbers EM 93-21$ �'� and EM 93-219 (collectively referred to as the "Action"); �� WHEREAS, by order of the court dated November 7, 1996 (the "Order") in the action, the '' defendants are obligated to undertake certain activities relating to the recruitment and hiring of minority persons; WHEREAS, the MPRS has offered to undertake certain of such activities on behalf of defendant cities which wish to act cooperatively to fulfill their obligation as set forth in the Order, on terms and conditions established by the MPRS; WHEREAS, the city council has determined that it is in the best interests of the city to participate cooperatively in the MPRS program; NOW, TIiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota as follows: l. The city authorizes and approves participation in the cooperative activities of the MPRS in accordance with the terms and conditions established for such participation by the MPRS. 2. The City of Rosemount is authorized and directed to take such actions as are necessary to participate in the MPRS program. 3. Data provided by the city to the MPRS are to be administered in accordance with Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13, and the MPRS shall maintain data on individuals in accordance with statutory provisions applicable to that data. _ l ,_�. � RESOLUTION 1997 - 4.
