The fire department held its elections for the positions of Assistant Fire Chief and Secretary of the Rosemount ,
Fire Department on February 25, 1997. The persons who were elected to these two posrtions are: ',
Greg Smith, Assistant Fire Chief - one year term ,
James Ford, Secretary - one year term �',
Prior to being allowed on the ballot each applicant, according to city policy,must receive approval from a '
screening committee. That committee is headed and organized by the city administrator with the fire chief, ''
chief of police and two fire department representatives as members. This committee did not convene to screen
applicants this year.
If the city council would concur with the results of the fire department election,we would look to them to ratify
these two persons for their respective positions. '
Both positions are being filled by a new person. Both people would need to be sworn in for their respective '
o�ces.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE GREG SMITH AS ROSEMOUNT'S
ASSISTANT FIRE CHIEF AND JAMES FORD AS THE SECRETARY FOR THE ROSEMOUNT
FIRE DEPARTMENT FOR THE TERMS LISTED.
