Also for City Council consideration is a recommendation to approve additional adjustments of salary ranges of certain nonunion positions indicated in a document dated January 2, 1997. As previously discussed with the City Council, upon ratification of the new salary ranges, employees will be placed within the range and moved to the next highest step on the employee's anniversary date and if the employee performs satisfactorily. Staff would also like to recommend that Council amend the City Personnel Policy to included the following changes for regular full time nonunion employees: (1) One floating holiday will replace Columbus Day. Therefore, City Hall will be open for business on Columbus Day and employees will have one floating holiday at their option, subject to supervisor's approval. {2) The vacation accrual rate for employees during their first year of employment will change from 5.33 hours/month to 6.67 hours/month. New comparable worth points were addressed in the document dated January 2, 1997 for the positions of Building Officia1, Sr. Engineering Technician, Recreation Programmer, Building Supervisor, Sr. Accounting Clerk and Administrative Assistant. City Council action is required to approve these new points. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE SALARY ADNSTMENTS, TO AMEND THE CITY PERSONNEL POLICY, AND TO APPROVE NEW COMPARABLE WORTH POINTS FOR THE POSITIONS AS RECONIMENDED ABOVE. �
