BURT, CITY ADMINISTRATOR ATTACHMENTS: NONE Since Chief Knutsen will be retiring in approximately six months, we should begin discussion on the replacement process for hiring a new chief. Council may want to consider using Jim Brimeyer again and going with a similar process used in hiring Community Developrnent Director Rogness. For the police chief position, I recommend the following if Brimeyer's services are used: • Brimeyer will interview city council, administration, department heads and police department employees. • Brimeyer will prepare a position profile based on information received from his contact with council and staff, the job description and priorities for the position. • Candidates will be produced from job announcements and recruitment. • Brimeyer will screen candidates and investigate backgrounds. • Brimeyer will provide finalists. • Reception for finalists and tour of city • Interviews RECOMMENDED ACTION NOTES:
