The repairs include minor welding and repair of coating (painting) failures on the interior and exterior of the Connemara Water Tower. This item was budgeted in the Water Operating Budget for 1996. In 1995 we had both the Connemara Water Tower (1 million gallon) and the Chippendale Water Tower (.5 million gallon) inspected by KLM Engineering personnel for evaluation of maintenance needs. In 1995 we completed the repairs to the Chippendale Avenue Water Tower and budgeted money in the 1996 Water Operating Budget for the Connemara Water Tower repairs. This project must be done in late fall after the greatest demand for water is complete and we can take this Tower out of service. The bids were received on July 25, 1996 and the low bidder was V. E. Gray & Sons Contracting, Inc. at $61,490. The Engineers Estimate was $75,300. Both KLM Engineering and Staff recommend that V.E. Gray & Son Contracting, Inc. be awarded the project. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONNEMARA TOWER REPAIR AND PAINTING. I COUNCIL ACTION: K CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 1996 - A RESOLUTION RECEIVING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONNEMARA TOWER REPAIR AND PAINTING BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota, as follows: 1 All bids for the construction of Connemara Tower Repair and Painting are hereby received and tabulated. 2. The bid of V.E. Gray & Sons Contracting, Inc. in the amount of $61,490 for the construction of said improvements in accordance with the plans and specifications and advertisement for bids is the lowest responsible bid and shall be and hereby is accepted. 3. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with said bidder for the construction of said improvements for an on behalf of the City of Rosemount. 4. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposit of all successful bidder and the next two lowest bidders shall be retained until a contract has been executed.
