This ordinance creates designated days for garbage and recyclable material collection in
the City of Rosemount. Originally, this idea was submitted to Council for discussion only in
resolution form. It should have been in ordinance form and this is what is before you now.
The ideas discussed are the same with one change in the ordinance. Collection days, Monday
and Tuesday, are designated west of Akron Avenue. The ordinance was written this way for
two reasons: 1) Citizens are more heavily concentrated in Rosemount west of Akron Avenue,
and 2) Responding to haulers who expressed concern about regulating the days of collection in
the more sparsely populated areas of Rosemount. This may create unnecessary
inconveniences for the haulers because of simple logistics. Therefore, it is recommended that
the Council pass this ordinance that designates the days of garbage and recyclable material
collection west of Akron Avenue.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve the ordinance to designate Monday and
Tuesday as the days of garbage and recyclable material collection west of Akron Avenue.

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE HEALTH AND SANITATION CODE
THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEMOUNT ORDAINS AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Rosemount City Code, Section 5-1-7, is amended by adding new paragraph D as
follows:
D. Collection of solid waste and recyclable materials by refuse haulers may

occur only on Monday or Tuesday, west of Akron Avenue in the City. Collection
of solid waste and recyclable material may occur on or east of Akron Avenue on any
day of the week.
Section 2. This ordinance will become effective from and after its date of publication.
