In the process of completing a plan to reorganize the Parks and Recreation Department, I have determined
several major needs. First, the replacement for Lisa Jost should be an individual dedicated to the day to
day operations of the Community Center. Examples of such duties are cleaning, rental set -up, mechanical,
and building supervision. I am anticipating a savings in this replacement from the salary that Lisa Jost
would have otherwise received. Therefore, some funds exist to enhance the support functions needed to
effectively operate a department and a facility. The amount of this savings will exceed $10,000 depending
on the salary of the replacement.
Our next pressing need is to have a receptionist covering the phone and other clerical responsibilities during
the entire extent of office hours. We currently employ a part-time receptionist 25 hours per week. To
adequately cover remaining office hours will require an additional 872 hours of part -time work, or a total
of $8,837. This amount will be well covered from the savings in salary from Lisa Jost.
The proposed part-time position does not include employee benefits.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO APPROVE ADVERTISING AND POSTING FOR A
PART -TIME RECEPTIONIST.
