KUHNS AGENDA fTEM # 4 � D ATTACHMENTS: RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT APPROVED BY: In August of 1995 the Rosemount Police Department sought and received our second "Safe and Sober grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety. The grant which is endorsed by the International Chiefs of Police Association and the National Sheriffs Association seeks to unite law enforcement agencies, efforts in reducing impaired driving crashes and increasing safety belt and child safety seat use with enhanced enforcement efforts and public information and education activities. In order to accomplish this the grant provides funds to pay overtime for officers and support staff for enhanced enforcement efforts. The Rosemount Police Department is seeking a "Safe & Sober" grant for 1997 also and is requesting a council resolution allowing our Chief, Elliel Knutsen, to sign and implement a "Safe & Sober" grant with the Department of Public Safety. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT. COUNCIL ACTION: CITY OF ROSEMOUNT DAKOTA COUNTY, MINNESOTA RESOLUTION 1996 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT ENTITLED SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota that the Rosemount Police Department enter into a grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period from October 1, 1996 through September 30, 1997. Elliel F. Knutsen, Chief of Rosemount Police Department, is hereby authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the Rosemount Police Department.
