Staff had a meeting with Bill Johnson and Jim Noska of the Metropolitan Council
Wastewater Services (MCWS) and Tom Caswell of the Met Council on Thursday. The
purpose of the meeting was to review and update the City on the Rosemount Wastewater
Treatment Plant Expansion Project. Bill Johnson is the new Project Manager for the
MCWS for this project.
The completed "Facility Plan" calls for the existing plant to be abandoned with a new
pumping or lift station replacing it. The attached drawing shows alternative locations for
the lift stations and force main into Inver Grove Heights. The treatment of sewage will be
at the Metro or Pig's Eye Plant. The proposed schedule includes the design report to be
completed by July, 1996, and construction completed by 1998. This lift station will be
designed for a 20 year Iife. The Met Council and MCWS Staff have pledged their
cooperation with the City in making sure the design will accommodate the future
population.
Attached is a resolution to send to the Met Council supporting the budgeting for the
Rosemount Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion Project now and in the future. Staff
recommends that this resolution be adopted and sent to the Chairman of the Met Council
to show the City's concern for future sanitary sewer capacity.
RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO ADOPT A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING CONTINUED
BUDGETING FOR THE ROSEMOUNT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION
PROJECT.

A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE CONTINUED FUND(NG OF THE
ROSEMOUNT WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT EXPANSION PROJECT
MCWS PROJECT NO. 920800
BY THE METROPOLITAN COUNCIL WASTEWATER SERVICES
WHEREAS, the City Council is concerned about the future development of Rosemount, the
environment and the sanitary sewer needs of its citizens, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council Wastewater Services Division has completed a Facility
Plan, and has initiated work on a Design Report for the Rosemount Wastewater Treatment
Plant conversion to a lift station, and
WHEREAS, the future �growth and economic vitality of Rosemount depends upon the
enhancement of Rosemount wastewater treatment facitities.
NOW, THEREFORE BE ITRESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Rosemount, Minnesota
that the continued funding of MCWS Project No. 920800, the Rosemount Wastewater
Treatment Facilities Expansion Project is of vital concern to the City and should be of a
extremely high priority in the 1996 and future Metropolitan Council and Metropolitan Council
Wastewater Services budgets.
