AGENDA ITEM: Hiring Part-time Secretary Aide, Public AGENDA SECTION: Works DepartmentlUtilities Old Business PREPARED BY: Bud Osmundson AGENDA �1'��� � � � City Engineer/Public Works Director � � ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: At the January 17, 1995 City Council meeting, the Council authorized Staff to begin the hiring process for permanent part-time secretary aide for the Public Works Department. The funding for this position was approved by the Utilities Commission and is in the 1995 Water and Sanitary Sewer Utility Operating Budgets. As explained in January, this position will be working in the Public Works Maintenance Shop inputting data and work orders on the preventative maintenance program. This person will assist in phone and radio cornmunications with the Public and Staff and answer questions the Public may have. This person would also be responsible for the tracking of part-time person�el hours worked, the job cost program, fleet management and a variety of other paperwork required by the State and County agencies in the areas of water, sanitary sewer and hazardous waste. The pasition is budgeted for approximately 25 hours per week. This past week Sue Walsh, Mike Widstrom, Rick Cook and Dave McKnight interviewed three people out of 30 applicants for the position. It was a unanimous decision of the group to offer the position to J�lie Kaufman-Boom. Ms. Kaufman-Boom has ten years of experience in a variety of secretarial positions with the last two years at the City of Eagan. This secretarial aide position is covered by the AFSCME Union contract. Staff recommends Council approve the hiring of Ms. Kaufman-Boom pending a successful physical examination and drivers license check. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE THE HIRING OF MS. JUUE KAUFMAN- BOOM RS PART-TIME SECRETARY AIDE IN THE PUBLIC WORKS/UTILITY DEPARTMENT. COUNCIL ACTION: 4
