PREPARED BY: Jim Topitzhofer, Parks and Recreation and AGENDA NO.
Conununity Center Director.
ATTACHMENTS: Resolution APPROVED BY:
I have prepared an application to the Mighty Ducks Ice Arena Grant. Our project, entitled "Rosemount Ice
Arena Energy Efficiency Improvement Project", is a proposal for energy improvements to the Rosemount
Ice Arena.
The amount of grant request is $3,600. An additional $3,600 wi11 be requested from USPCI, Inc.
Rosemount Community Trust Fund. The installation of power factor equipment is proposed, resulting in
an energy cost savings of $2,400 per year. With a three year payback on power factor equipment, this
project is an excellent investment. In addition, the City of Rosemount has already lowered ice axena
electric costs by over $5,700 annually through NSP's Peak Control Program. To ensure future success in
this program, capital funds are needed to purchase kilowatt monitoring equipment. These combined energy
saving efforts will have a significant impact on the ice arena's budget and will help toward making the
Rosemount Ice Arena more financially productive.
PROJECT BUDGET
Power Factor Correction Equipment:
Purchase and install Capacitor Banks.................$6,000
Peak Energy Control Monitoring Equipment:
Purchase and install Kilowatt Monitor................$1,200
Total Cost of Project.............................................$7,200
This project will require no funds from the City of Rosemount. It is contingent upon USPCI's funding.
