Council had approved plans and specifications and authorized advertisement of bids for the proposed repair of the existing Fire Station on September 5th. The Council had designated approximately $85,000 for this repair. The bid documents were structured to allow the City numerous alternate bids as the budget would allow. Three bids were received with the low bid at 5144,900. This was only the base bid consisting of adding a drivet exterior system and replacing windows and doors as es 1 thru 4 res ectivel were I ks. The alternat p Y necessary to seal it from existing water ea replacement of the heating system for the bay area, replacement of the HVAC system for the office area, concrete pad repair and painting`of the interior bay area. Staff has been advised that the bids were much higher than anticipated due to the weather conditions to complete the project this year and the present bidding climate. Therefore, we are recommending rejection of all bids and re-bidding the project next spring. It is anticipated more funding will still be required and Staff will have those recommendations at a later date. RECOMMENDED ACTION: MOTION TO RECENE AND REJECT ALL BIDS FOR THE FIRE STATION REPAtR IMPROVEMENTS AND AUTHORIZE STAFF TO RE-ADVERTISE AND RE-BID THE SAME IMPROVEMENTS NEXT FEBRUARY.
