Posting Position of Parks and Recreation/Community Center Part-Time Receptionist CITY OF ROSEMOUNT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY FOR ACTION CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: AUGUST 15, 1995 AGENDA ITEM: Posting Position of Parks and AGENDA SECTION: Recreation/Community Center Part-Time Receptionist New Business PREPARED BY: Jim Topitzhofer, Parks and Recreation and AGENDA NO. Community Center Director. T # 1 ATTACHMENTS: None APPROVED BY: The Community Center has utilized a temporary part-time receptionist throughout the year to handle phone and light clerical duties. This position has proven to be an essential component of our operation as the Department receives numerous calls and in person visits from the public. We currently employ a receptionist approximately five hours per weekday. The difficulry with a temporary part-time receptionist is that we have to train in a new person every three months. Because of the vast information receptionists must learn and the intricacy of the Department,'I have determined the need to initiate a permanent receptionist position so that we provide consistent information to customers. After evaluating the status of our Paxks and Recreation budget, I have determined that our cost control has been sufficient and we have adequate operating funds to exchange our temporary receptionist into a permanent position. I propose to eliminate our current temporary receptionist position and post and advertise for a permanent part-time receptionist for 25 hours per week at a starting rate of $9.09 per hour, effective immediately. $9.09 per hour is the starting salary for receptionist under our current union contract. This position has been introduced in the 1996 budget, preliminarily approved by City Council. RECOMMENDED ACTION: Motion to approve posting and advertising the position of permanent part- time receptionist for 25 hours per week at a rate of $9.09 per hour. COUNCIL ACTION:
