WALSH AGENDA ��A � �•� ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 11la ATTACHMENT3: APPLICATION, RESOLUTION APPROVED BY: The City has received an application for a gambling premise permit from Minneapolis West Suburban Junior Kodiaks, 1404 Central Avenue N.E. , Minneapolis. The application is to allow this organization to lease a booth site at Last Call Bar & Grill who has entered a lease agreement with the organization to sell pulltabs. Attached for Council review is the premise permit application and lease agreement. I have had discussion with Ken Batter, manager of the Minneapolis West Suburban Junior Kodiak, and Renee Rhoads, owner of Last Call, who have both provided me with background information on this organization. The Junior Kodiaks are a Junior B hockey league for ages 16-20 years and is a member of the Minnesota Junior Hockey Association. This nonprofit organization uses its gambling proceeds to buy ice time and uniforms for the teams in this league. Some of the proceeds from the Last Call location would buy ice time at the Rosemount Community Center and buy uniforms for the Rosemount/So. St. Paul/West St. Paul area team called the Steers. The manager from the nonprofit organization advised that he will be contacting Rosemount High School officials to see how donations can be applied to female sports. Ms. Rhoads advised that she will have input on how the proceeds from gambling are spent; and it is her intention for proceeds to stay in Rosemount. The Minneapolis West Suburban Junior Kodiaks have gambling premises permits in three locations in Minneapolis. I contacted a staff inember from the City of Minneapolis who advised there have been no problems with their gambling operations. I also verified the Kodiaks are licensed with the state gambling board through December 31, 1996. The Knights of Columbus currently have a pulltabs booth at Last Call. Ms. Rhoads advised me she intends to continue leasing them space. It is legal to have two different organizations in one location.
