The term for our representative, Penny Butler, will expire on June 30th. The County Board of
Commissioners will be considering nominations on June 6, 1995 and have requested a nomination by
Ma.y 8th.
Penny Butler has expressed an interest in continuing as representative for the City of Rosemount. Dakota
Alliance for Prevention (DAP) supports teens and families in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other
drug abuse and promotes chemical health through community empowerment and collaboraxion.
RECOMNII:IVDED ACTION:
MOTION to submit Penny Butler as nomination for the Dakota Alliance for Prevention to the County
Board of Commissioners.

The term for your representative on the Dakota Alliance for Prevention will expire on 7une 30, 1995.
Please nominate a resident of your choice for the next term. This person will serve for a twayear term. �
Penny Bufler,your current representative,has expressed an interest in continuing.
Your nomination will be given to the County Board of Comuussionezs to consider for appointment on
June 6, 1995. In order to meet deadlines and have the new representatives appointed in June to begin
July 1,I would like to have your nomination by May 8,1995.
To update you on the DAP's activities,Penny will make a brief presentation at a future City Council
Meeting.

OPPORTUNITIES:
* Demonstrating leadership in alcohol and other druq abuse
prevention in Dakota County
* Developing a comprehensive community plan for drug and
� alcohol
abuse prevention _ _
* Education in needs assessment, planninq, prevention, and
vrganizational 3evelopment
* Networking with community leaders across Dakota County
* Sharing information about chemical health promotion with
Dakota Ccunty citizens and organizations
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Time commitment:
+► Two-year terms, youth may serve one-year terms -
* Attendance at bi-monthly meetings of the Partnership (6
per year)
* Involvement in at least one working committee, action
team or lacal coalition
* Participation in an annual retreat

* Implement the strategic plan - �
* Promote the project whenever possible
* Recruit participation in DAP's activities :
* Access resources and services. Be a link back to your
community.
